Fruity ice cream This apple ice cream recipe is quite a treat. It,s basically an apple sauce with cream, a really simple, no fuss recipe. Have you got some left-over apple sauce, well just try it with this recipe. Or just make your own sauce with your favorite apples. There are a variety of apples you can choose from, and I bet that you've already selected your favorite type.
Ingredients for 1½ quarts (1½ liters):1 cup (250 ml) apple sauce 2 cups (500 ml) heavy (double) cream 1¾ cup (440 ml) whole milk ½ vanilla bean or ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon Machine method: Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and stir into the apple sauce (or use ground cinnamon). Combine the milk and apple sauce in a blender or food processor, add the cream and mix for a few minutes. Transfer the mixture to your ice cream maker and follow the instructions for your machine. Alternative method: Combine the applesauce, vanilla seeds and milk. Whip the cream and fold it into the apple sauce.Transfer to a suitable container and freeze. After about 1 hour remove from the freezer and stir the mixture thoroughly. Return to the freezer. Repeat the process 4-5 times until firm.
