Make Sorbet Desserts!
Go ahead! It’s a great idea to make sorbet desserts if your looking for something a little “lighter” than ice cream. One good thing about sorbet is that it doesn’t have as many calories as ice cream. Apples & Orange This apple sorbet with apple crisps is so refreshing and very simple to make. Make a good thing better…top it off with juicy orange syrup.

Apple sorbetIngredients: ½ vanilla bean 1¼ cup (300 ml)water 6 oz (180 grams) sugar 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (optional) 4 apples
Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean. Boil the water and add the vanilla seeds, the bean and the sugar. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove the cores from the apples and slice them into small pieces. Transfer them to a blender (food processor) and add the cinnamon, mix for a few seconds. Pour the warm water on to the apples and mix for a few minutes. Strain the mixture and place it in the refrigerator. When the mixture is completely cooled, transfer to the ice cream maker and follow the instructions for your machine. You can make sorbet desserts without an ice cream maker, just transfer the mixture to a suitable container and place it in the freezer. After about 1½ hours beat the mixture with a wire whisk and return it to the freezer for another hour and repeat. Do this every hour, 3 more times and the end result is much like the result you would get from an ice cream maker. Apple crisps Peel 1 large apple and cut it into really thin slices with a very sharp knife (or use a slicing machine). Place the slices on a baking sheet and bake them in the middle of the oven at 250˚F (130˚C) for about 70-80 minutes until they are golden and crisp. Orange syrup Ingredients: 3½ oz (100 grams) cane sugar 1¼ cup (300 ml) freshly squeezed orange juice Caramelize the sugar in a small saucepan. Add the orange juice stir constantly until all the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and cool completely. You can store it in the refrigerator for about a week.
